Self-criticism

Have you ever had a neighbor with a dog that BARKS and BARKS and BARKS at all hours of the night and will…not…stop?

Or worse, is your own mind that barking dog?

“Mark, you screwed up.”

“Mark, you’re such an idiot.”

“You should’ve known better.”

“You should’ve worked harder.”

“You should’ve gotten that right.”

“Why didn’t you do more?”

“#$@##$&!!!!!”

“Sure, they say they like you, but if they knew this about you, then…”

Bark. Bark. Bark.

It never lets you rest.

It never gives you credit.

It never gives you a break.

Even when you do something well, the critic jumps in:

“That wasn’t good enough.”
“You could’ve done better.”

We can say things to ourselves that we would never say to anyone else!

And we just. can’t. make. the critic. go. away…

But there’s good news…

You don’t have to!  What is good news if not this?: “I don’t have to get rid of this part of me that damn it I can’t get rid of!”

The goal isn’t to silence that voice overnight.

It’s to build a new one — one rooted in clarity, courage, compassion, and truth.

You can learn to challenge that self-critical voice, not trust it, and begin to break free from it.

You can learn to balance that self-critical voice with other inner voices that are more loving, accurate, and more helpful.

And you can start to feel and truly believe that you are enough, exactly as you are.

Tired of Endless Self-criticism?

You can learn to tame that voice and enjoy the peace and freedom of feeling like enough!
